Continuing with the policy of sanctions against Russia due to the war in Ukraine, and after images of Bucha, the European Commission has published the proposals that will form part of the fifth package of sanctions.
Among the measures, the following stand out:
- The prohibition of the importation of coal.
- The isolation of the main banks.
- The veto of Russian ships and their prohibition to access the ports of the European Union. Although it is true, there are certain exemptions on essential items, such as agricultural and food products, humanitarian aid and energy. In addition, a ban on Russian and Belarusian road transport operators is proposed. This ban will drastically limit the options for Russian industry to obtain key goods.
